The land that we farm has all gone into environmental schemes, this is enabling us to carry out various projects which will either enhance the local landscape, such as traditional hay meadow restoration, or benefit archaeological features and wildlife.
As well as planting hedges we are hedge laying, Trees have been planted in areas to create habitats for many farmland birds and also moorland birds such as the rare Black Grouse. We have noticed a marked increase in the numbers of birds like Meadow Pippits and Sky Larks in the last few summers, probably due to the change in our farming practices.
